Possibly the ECM is commanding the trans to drop out of OD. The ECM will do that for a variety of reasons. The one I've personally experienced was a bad TPS. When it hit the bad spot, the trans would downshift.
You didn't answer the earlier Q: which engine does yours have? It'll be hard to accurately give guesses without knowing which mill is under the bonnet.

old worn out oxidized ATF will cause the infamous torque converter shudder.
when was all 11 quarts of ATF and filter changed last. the friction modifiers and anti oxidants wear out
if more than 30k miles or it looks dark or smells like old wet socks, change all 11 quarts now and filter
search forum for gentle flush change.
