I had a 95 F250HD 4x4, 460, auto trans. I've hauled close to 5 tons of hay on a heavy built flatbed car trailer (on the bumper) with a few hundred more pounds in the bed of the truck- no worries. Your truck will haul that load easily with the diesel.
no prob. my dad brought 5 tons of rock home on a 16' bumper pull trailer. he went to the quarry, which was only about 12 or so miles from the house, and when the guy on the loader came up, he held up 5 fingers, as in 5,000 pounds. the got 5 tons. what was worse was that this wasnt on the bumper of a powerstroke while having no trailer brakes, this was on the 79 f-100 with a 302 and a 4 speed bull dog. i know its off topic, but i'll have to find those pics!
Fishy said it right, your truck will laugh at 2300 lbs. I hauled more then 5K in the bed, once, hard to steer it lol. I usually have 500-800 in it all the time just to smooth out the ride a little.
Our trucks can handle more than MFG allows,
Make sure you are within specifiec LBS limits, just in case.
Insurance companies are looking for any way out of payment.
