How do I waterproof my NP435? does anyone make a boot that goes over the shifter handle and then the top of the trans cover? Is it that much of an issue? I just figured that while it was out of the truck i'd try to do something for it.
hey fellow crewcab guy! If you're into water deep enough to get in around the tower chances are the crankcase will be full of water first, if its still a concern use a piece of bicycle inner tube, stretch it over the tower and clamp it over the stick, don't forget to extend the vent on the t-case as well
The only time I ever got water in mine was when I was up to the headlights in it. In my case it seems that the tower is the weak point for water intrusion. I'm gonna try to rig up some kind of rubber boot like crewcab said.

that's an awesome idea, Thanks, yeah I planned to run the tcase vent up high.
Oh will I have to vent the tranny so it can still breathe?
wouldn't hurt, if it does build pressure it will puke oil around the input shaft onto the clutch, drill and tap a 1/8 npt hole in the shift tower and use a barb fitting with a hunk of hose
So I figured out how to do it, use the bicycle inner tube to seal it off, like evilcrewcab was saying, but use the section with the valve stem in it, remove the valve core and hook a hose up to it, I'm hoping to get it in by this weekend
if you were wanting to vent the trans, maybe take out the top level fluid check plug out and find a fitting with a barbed fitting on it. technically the fluid wouldnt be higher than that unless you leaned over extremely to that side, but you would eventually go back the other way and it would vent. But that is only if someone is worried about drilling into the trans and getting burrs or shavings inside.
