Thanks fro the e-mail. I got the instructions and installed it tonight. Pretty easy for me. Only about two hours. Everything seems to work except for when I try to program the idle speed, the horn is supposed to chirp 3 times when it recieves a valid tach signal. Mine does not. On the instructions sheet, it says to connect the module wire to the light green and white wire that is taped to the harness behind the fuse box under the hood. There is no fuse box under the hood on my 04 PSD. There is a fuse box under the steering column with a light green and white wire taped to the harness behind it. I hooked the module to that wire. Is that the correct wire? Am i supposed to hook it to a different wire? As far as all ford remote start kits, they use the same color tach wire from what I understand. Has anybody else run into this problem? I don't want to try the remote start because I think it will just keep cranking the motor over after it has started because it doesn't see a tach input. Thanks. Kyle

You need to read the fine print in the manual (it's buried in there somewhere)...................you have to set the module to "tachless" "DO NOT HOOK UP THE TACH WIRE ON DIESEL ENGINES".

Here's the deal, you have to get "vehicle specific wiring" instructions. This is why you didn't see the part about not hooking up the tach wire & running it in "tachless" mode, if you want your vehicle specific wiring post your VIN or PM it to me.

The following is taken from the gen.2 install manual:
"VEHICLE SPECIFIC WIRING DIAGRAM INFORMATION"

Vehicle/Product specific wiring diagrams are provided for all systems in two additional documents/files on the Ford

websites, Cars and Trucks. The diagrams are organized by vehicle (Year/Model) and by Product. For example, to find a

specific wiring diagram for installing a RKE/VSS/RMST system in a 2007 F-150:

1. In the Bookmarks pane, click on the “+” symbol to the left of the bookmark for “2007MY”.

2. Click on the “+” symbol to the left of the bookmark for “F-150”.

3. Select the system that you are installing in the links revealed under F-150.
4. Then using the buttons in the Acrobat toolbar, you can view the individual pages in the drawing

cont........

Prior to beginning this installation it is recommended that you lower the drivers door window to prevent locking the keys in

the vehicle.

The installation instructions are presented in three sections. The first section (which begins immediately following this

page) contains installation instructions for the systems various components and tips for prepping the systems wiring

harnesses. These steps are presented in a generic format. The procedures for these installation steps are basically the

same regardless of the model vehicle or system that you are working on. The drawings depicted in this section are for

reference only and may not reflect the vehicle on which you may be working.

The second (reference) section contains the system option programming charts and various other reference type information.

The last section represents vehicle specific wiring diagrams for each application. Within the wiring section for each vehicle,

there are separate wiring diagrams for each different system. The vehicle specific wiring drawings are arranged in the

following order:

1. Fuse placement and vehicle specific programming requirements - 1 page;

2. RKE/VSS/RMST - Typically 5 pages;

3. RMST - Typically 3 pages;

4. VSS - Typically 2 pages;

Prior to beginning your first installation of this product it is recommended that you:

1. Thoroughly review and print out the first section;

2. Skim through the reference section to become acquainted with the additional information that is available.

Then, go through the installation print out in the vehicle specific wiring sections and use as a reference during the

installation.

NOTE: The wiring sections for all vehicles are located in two separate files (Cars and Trucks), which is also found on

the same websites as this Base instruction.

It will not try to crank if the programming is incorrect, however if you have it set to "tachless" OFF it will not know it's trying to start a diesel. Set it to "tachless" ON and disconnect the tach wire you hooked up. Don't worry about it cranking the HE*L out of your starter...it won't.

Finally figured it out. EVerything works great. Only question I have is, do I have to leave a key in the ignition? As of now, thats the only way the remote start will work. If I don't have the key in the ignition, after the 30 sec delay, the hor chirps once and nothing happens. I don't have the PATS system or a chip in my key. I hooked up a wire to the key in sense wire under the steering column. Is there a way to wire it so I don't have to leave a key in. I am afraid of someone breaking in and stealing my truck. Thanks,

Kyle

You'll have to change the polarity setting on the module for the "key in sensor". I will be sending out the vehicle specific wiring, you can use the menu on the left to scroll to your vehicle by year/ model to get to it. Also, looks like there is a tach converter for the '04 6.0's (part # is listed on vehicle specific wiring.
