The thread is officially hijacked? OH COOL! Give me a bit and I'll come up with an alternative subject. Hmmm... leather and whips?, No, that's not quite right. I'll be back with something else.

Ah, I think we already covered that with the Village People part of the thread.
Maybe - We should be allowed to Post OT(Off Topic) Threads in the Chapter Area?
Most likely not FTE allowed. I guess I should read terms of use.
We always seem to sidetrack these FORD topics for things we all like to talk about.
Perhaps if we start thread title as OT: Seals in Monterey etc.... We could share some travel, personal, or fun stuff without upsetting those only interested with FORD Truck only topics?

Just an idea ....
I was kidding above in post #21.
For my $.02 This is a fine line. I don't mind being off topic (Ford Trucks) in our threads. Our forum is not focused on a special type of truck, engine, or mechanical talent. We focus on our lives as members of the Northern California chapter of the FTE and our trucks.
I just want to make sure we don't cross into the stuff that gets into the Club FTE Members Only forum. Many are kicked over there the Club forum for being religious, political, or the ever-fun NSFW (not safe for work) that has racy humor. I really don't want to discuss the pros and cons of gun control, Hillary, immigration, Bush, Iraq, global warming, and other issues.
What I said above is as a member of this chapter. What I want to know is how all of you feel about it?
When I joined this forum I thought I'd be meeting folks similar to those at the mercurycougar forum. It seems at least there, where most every member that I've corresponded with, are Ford\Mercury enthusiasts who are knowledgeable, some very experienced, and helpful. But at the same time I've seen and participated in a lot of non-topic discussions...because it's just cool to do.
I get the sense from the "hijack" and the member leaders threads that things aren't the same here. With that....take care folks nice to meet ya.
When . . . .

OOPs, not what was intended. FTE has special forums for specific trucks, and things like towing and camping. It also has special forums for general discussion.
The chapter forums are for the chapters to define - no subject that may interest the members is off-limits. We do like to keep it clean enough that if someone's wife or 12 year old daughter reads it over a member's shoulder he is not embarrassed.
Being what we are, we sometimes push that a bit -
I have a problem with off-topic or hijacked threads - somebody posts a serious question on pollution controls which causes someone else to post that he had a Chevy one time that would do the quarter in 6 seconds, which starts an argument over which engine is the fastest - and the original poster never gets his question answered.
The compromise we worked out is that the original poster had the right to ask the question again, and to ask people to stay on topic. That didn't mean they could not continue their discussion, only that they should move it to a new thread.
Most of the time when a thread is hijacked the original question has already been answered, and the original poster ready to move on to something else anyway.
It does not help that our main moderator is off in San Fran impersonating a sailor.
cruzinf100 - I hope you didn't get the wrong impression from my posts. I support Off Topic threads and it looks like the Chapter leader does as well.
I was trying to be funny with the hijacked remark. I guess it was mis understood.
I was only trying to state that this thread had moved off of what you had originally set it up to be but, that it looked OK to us that go off topic a lot.
I hope we didn't upset you or step on your thread too much.
With that being said, I hope you reconsider your leaving. You'll find that these folks are quite fair and fun to be around.
