i recently tood a trip to florida with my v10 ex an was able to get about 14.4mpg. total travel was about 1900 miles (round trip) from new jersey. had the wife, two kids, our luggage and the parents luggage (they flew down). average speed of 75mph. i calculated the mileage after traveling with a full tank, and divided the miles traveled by gallons pumped at the next fill up.
just bought my X and was pleasantly surprised to get 16.0 on a recent hwy trip. i have the 5.4 V8. Your mileage is great...i wanted a v10 but couldn't say no to the truck i found.
If I can keep the RPMs at 2K or below, my V10 gets 16 MPG highway. On a cross country trip to Las Vegas, I averaged 14 MPG ... due mostly to the higher speeds driven out west.
I have 210,000 miles on my 2000 X (5.4)and I am back to getting 16 highway and 14.8 highway pulling fully loaded 2 horse trailer plus all the stuff inside the X itself-, luggage, saddles, gear etc. My in town miles are rough 12-14 but small town driving factored in so not real bad. I had to do a tune up etc a while back to get mileage back up to what I considered a happy place. Most peeps have a different milage than others so its kind of hard to equalize. All factors have to be taken in when averaging with others, lead foot no leadfoot, hard stops etc i baby mine because I am hauling horses and I cant jack around without trailer because small town officers are not too nice so I take it all pretty easy. I have guy friends who haul butt in their X's and only get 10 mpg. But I think you are doing okay. Not bad but average.
