Question Older carb and intake for 88 2.0

Trying to find out how far back I can go to find a carb and intake that will fit on 88 2.0 block. Got to get rid of this Asian carb.

Fuel inject it. Fuel injection is better and in the long run, cheaper than a carb. It offers better gas mileage, it automatically adapts to all driving conditions, and it is more reliable. You can buy or build a megasquirt for fairly cheap.

Would rather keep it carbed, but that would be a solution. Thanks for the idea.

Probably any setup would fit, if you had the whole intake to use with it. Are you talking about the Motorcraft progressive 2bbl here? I actually really liked the one I used to have, but the old style with a single choke plate is easier to work on, not progressive though. You may need to re-tune it, but '83/'84 and pre June '85's had carburetion on 2.3l's as well, AFAIK they all had the old-school carb. Zephyrs and Fairmonts also had the 2.3l as a base motor, although the head used oval ports instead of D-ports so the intake wouldn't fit directly, the rest would probably work, and the head would fit the block if you wanted to go that far. Just throwing some stuff out there...

I think this carb was called a one bbl with a booster. All kinds of vacumm lines and emisions controls. It's listed as the Asian model E77E-AA/E87E-AA. Rebuild kit is $99.00 at auto parts stores. Trying to get away from all the emissions on this motor also, without going to all out racing carb and intake.

The 83-84 used the Carter YFA carb one barrel. And the head was a round port. There are oval port, round port and D port heads and there are adapters to go from oval to round. I am current putting together a knock round 83 ranger and I am using the adapter from oval to round we ill see how it works.
