Regen Frequency

Just trying to get an idea of how often everyones truck goes into regen..I have a job 1 truck and before the reflash, she did a regen every tankful, so about every 250-275 miles or so. Now, with the new dpf and new flash, about every 500-600 miles she will regen. How about everyone else?

Mine used to REGEN about every 200-300 miles, but since I installed the AFE cold air intake, I haven't noticed a REGEN in over 1000+ miles.

Mine is a job 2, she does a regen every tank or about every 350-450 miles.

They don't seem to last as long though; or maybe that is wishful thinking....

I got 1800 miles and never noticed a regen. I'm sure it must have happen sometime on the freeway, but not during city driving or idleing time.

regen is a mode where the exhaust system injects fuel into the dpf (diesel particulate filter) and burns the particles to clean the filter. You will notice the rpms rise to around 1200 at idle and increase slightly also when driving. im no expert and this is very brief but this is what has been explained to me.

Not exactly. It injects fuel into a cylinder during the exhaust stroke, which then travels to the DPF. No fuel line headin to the little bomb under the truck thank god. I believe that GM trucks have the type of system that injects fuel directly into the exhaust.

If you have a pre turbo EGt installed you will see the regens as the EGT temps increase significantly. They occur more at city driving speeds. You may be surprised at how often regen takes place.
