I have a 99' ranger 4x4 with the 3.0 v6 manual transmission. when I push the gas pedal past halfway the air stops blowing out of the panel vents and comes out of the defroster. when I let off the gas it starts coming out of the panel again. also when I put it in 4x4 it wont stay in. it goes back into 2wd by itself. the 4x4 light is still on but it is not in 4x4. any ideas?
I checked the vaccum tank and it was good. There is a electric solenoid behind the passenger headlight that the vaccum lines run to. It has a diaphram at the bottom. it was leaking there. I took it apart and cleaned it. now the panel vent problem is fixed but the hubs are still unlocking. Do you think maybe the solenoid is bad? Thanks,
Hi Jads,
I Had the exact same problem with my 98 ranger it turned out to be the heater control selector switch (the **** on the right that controls where the air blows out like top, middle, floor,) when the truck is running at idle and the blower turned to off put your ear next to the **** on the right and listen for a hissing noise. try it in different positions. if you hear it leaking tha is probley your problem but check all vacume hose connections under the hood and under the dash someone might have kicked a hose off by accident
