Fuel Mileage

I'm looking into buying an '02 F250 crew cab; debating diesel vs regular gas. What should I expect for fuel mileage (unloaded) for each type?

I have a 07 PSD running empty on a trip I can pull 19mpg, back and forth to work 16mpg, and towing at 13,500lb I am getting 11mpg.

05 F250 SRW CC 6.0 3.73 lightly modded

Lie-o-meter --- Hand calculated
best 21.6 ------20.6 all highway
worst 15.3 -----14.2 no highway

I record all MPG at each fillup, computer and hand calculate for 38K miles.
I can't give you an average because I tow a 14K 5th wheel (4+K miles of the 38K).

Generally I get 19.5 highway and 16.5 mixed.

On average you will be looking at about 30% less mileage with gas than diesel.

03 F-250 SC 5.4 4X4 3.73's. 12.5 mpg highway and around town no diff. 90,000 miles still running great.

07 F-250 SC 5.4 4x4 3.73s. 15-16 mpg highway (16.8 being the recent best tank) , 14 or so mixed. 10-12 around town, 9-11 towing 8000 pound trailer pictured.
