I have a extended cab 98 f150 with a 6 disk cd player in the back seat. my factory radio went out. Im trying to decide if I want to put in a aftermarket unit or buy a stock one on ebay. I like the look of a stock radio, however they do leave something to desire in sound quality. I was wondering if anyone has looked into using the stock 6 disk cd player with an aftermarket cd player? I also noticed that the plugs on my unit are differant then most of the ones on ebay. Wich makes it harder to find a stock replacement. Thanks for any help you could provide. I tried asking in the audio section but got no response.
You might check with Crutchfield and see if they offer a harness to do that. Finding a head unit that will control the factory changer may be difficult. You might also check a local salvage yard, you may fing a good stocker there and can hook it up to make sure it will work without getting a dud from 1/2 way across the country.
