Fuel leak.

I seem to leaking fuel from turbo charger right behind fuel filter. It sets on top engine and runs down. How is this possible? No fuel lines appear to have any "wet" spots. Just the Turbo Charger.

could be oil buddy... there is oil lines running internal to the turbo... and if the o-ring starts leaking it will run down the back of the motor...

if its actually fuel, and you can see it in the valley of death, its the wee p hole in the fuel pump perhaps. Check the fuel lines, and make sure that the botom of the fuel bowl is dry and clean, post what you find.

I know for sure it is diesel, overnight it will leave a good 18"-20" circle. The majority of it is sitting right behind filter in the valley then it runs off the back passenger corner. I don't feel any coming from fuel pump or the lines in that area. I do know prior to my owning it the fuel lines were replaced from firewall up. I just didn't know if this was a common issue. It started doing this when night temps were in the teens. Is it possible to "flood" a diesel to the point it gets in the turbo? I found it odd that it did not do this all summer.

Thanks for all the help.

if you cant see it while its running, you really outta check your pump. Make sure that its not filling your crankcase with fuel as well.

Anything leaking in the valley of death will find it's way to the rear and drain out the back. The only way I can think of to check for the source is to remove as much stuff as you can and completely clean the valley. fire the truck, Use lots of light and mirrors.

BTW: No way to 'flood the engine'. Some diesel leaks will go away after the engine gets warm but it's not going to get better.

I also have a fuel leak

My fuel leak does not leave a puddle. Instead, I smell deisel when I get out of the truck. I keep looking around the fuel filter but can't see anything leaking. The valley does have fluid in it but it does not look like diesel.

Before I tear into the filter and pump is there some items I should have on hand (fuel line, certain fittings, etc.) that would be good to change out.

I have had the truck since new and have never had to do anything to the fuel system. Not bad for 10 years.

Well, I had my wife rev motor while looking for leak. It is coming from fuel pump gasket. There shouldn't be fuel on that side of the pump, should there? It is a small stream/spray, but only at higher revs.
Crankcase oil looks fine.

Not sure what gasket you're talking about. I assume you mean the banjo bolt (#6 in the picture) on the rear of the pump. If that's the one try tightening it. The gaskets are made out of copper.

There should be fuel on all sides of the pump.

The leaking gasket is the one that is the mating surface between block and pump. That is spraying out a little stream at higher rev.

Wow, thats a weird one. I dont think that there is a way unless the tappet seal is gone. Even then, it would drain fuel into crankcase. There is no seal between the block and the pump. All it is is a rubber o ring about a inch from the bottom of the pump that sits inside the machined hole fo pump placement. There are some ABS plastic inserts on some pumps, I think the Carter pumps have them, and the Stockers, but Bosch is a machined set point. So, You outta make sure that the leak is coming from the pump, go to advanced and change er out....

OK, I'll ask the question. Is there a gasket between the block and pump? Changed mine a couple weeks ago and old and new pump had none.

I dont know where you got that, but its wrong. There is no gasket. that looks like a lift pump gasket for a gasser. Rest assured, there is NO gasket betwen a powerstroke lift pump and the block. Its a ROUND hole, not oblong, trust me on this. Double check where you pulled that from too, becasue someone made a big boo boo.
