I dont know where you got that, but its wrong. There is no gasket. that looks like a lift pump gasket for a gasser. Rest assured, there is NO gasket betwen a powerstroke lift pump and the block. Its a ROUND hole, not oblong, trust me on this. Double check where you pulled that from too, becasue someone made a big boo boo.
jle70, Listen to these guys, there is no gasket between the pump and block. Even if there were, it would seal the oil from leaving the block not the fuel.
IMHO, you need a new fuel pump. The leak you see is coming from the pizz hole on the bottom of the pump.
I will find out this weekend, cause I got to get the $3.50 gal leak fixed.
That would be why "Oreilly" auto does not show one listed.
But my leak is definitely coming from front of that mating surface between engine and pump.
No, its not. On the bottom side of the pump there is a problem area. Weep hole. This "internally" is where the tappet starts to build the pressure. Thats where it is leaking from. It just LOOKS like its from the mating surface. Once you pull it out, youll see what I mean.

Ok. So I will definitely replace pump. What causes the leak, they purposely put a leak hole?
The leak hole is to let the fuel out of the pump in the event of an internal seal failure so the fuel doen't enter the engine block and contaminate the oil.
OK. How long do these normally last? I found it odd that it started leaking when the temps dropped and started using PowerService winterizer. So the winterizer could have something to do with the internal failure?
All I did on the few that i have changed is used an open ended wrench. Thats it. Some guys say that you have to heat it to fit, I didnt, and it worked fine. Can change one out in about 30 minutes or so now. Just make sure that you rotate the motor by hand after pump is unbolted. Its the only way to prevent the tappet from falling into your motr, and you dont want to have to pull the motor. And keep in mind that it is std thread. Dont twist wrong way, righty tighty, lefty blah blah blah.
