tailgate stuck closed
probably the rod that goes to stuck side has come off. there are plastic clips that hold it on, and are subject to breakage.
you can either get to the rod from right behind the handle on pre 86 gates, or remove the panel inside the gate on later models . not sure of exact years , but most have ability to get gaste open if you need to. I just grab the rod with vice grips and tug to activate. to reinstall, you can get factory clips, but a peice of wire wrapped around the rod end and bracket seems to hold up.

What i did is leave it the way it is. Best theft detruant(sp) their is! I just found as long as you hold your mouth right and pull with the right fingers....its as easy as the latch its self. Its up to you. I dont mind it at all. The other guy had some good ideas as well....
