CPS Recall Update

Got my CPS replaced this morning. New part # is F7TZ-12K073-B, same as the old one except it now ends with a B instead of A. No hassle's, very friendly and quick service. Parts guy said no chance of getting a spare for awhile as they are in short supply. They requested 150 and only got a few, (so they say).
I also had them put in writing on the work order, no touching my PCM for any reason, just in case they might of had a mind too.
They also said that re-flash isn't a part of the recall but you just never know what goes on once the truck is out of sight.

Ummm, they never said they were going to test. It was bring it in and we will put the update in. I still had the original in mine so I guess it was a no contest kind of deal.
As it is listed in a safety issue recall it has to be replaced I would think. But don't quote me!

All I can say..it's about time FORD!!

The Associated Press article for the CPS recall is all over the news. Washington Post, USA Today, Breit Bart. Here's one on Yahoo.

The news said it was only the 450 that was effected in the pickups. Are the 99 250 with the 7.3 on the recall too?

I went to the Ford website:
http://www.ford.com/owner-services/c...ll-information

Plug in your VIN. Mine's an '02 and it's on Ford's list

The sheet I saw at the dealer simply instructed them to look at the CPS. If it is black with a gold(i believe)bracket they are to replace it. If it is gray with silver bracket dont change. Also on that sheet was instructions for requesting refunds for previous CPS replacements. I didnt get any details on that, but when I track down my tow truck bill and cps invoice from last year I will see how far I get.

Ford must not have all the VINs listed yet. I checked my '03 350 yesterday and it wasn't on the list. Just checked it now and it is. If yours isn't listed, keep checking. Guess they will have a few to list.....

Definitely let us know how it turns out. My original is still in a ziplock bag as a spare, and I just don't want to change it out just to say it's on the truck for Ford to replace it. I'dmuch rather walk in with it in my hand and let them hand me another one to throw in the glove box.

Exact same situation here. I just put in a grey one two weeks ago. I'm not giving up my truck for a day over a $25.00 part.

Can you just hand carry the original in? I have mine behind the seat in the box of the new one.

Edit: I just saw f250 asked the same thing. Sorry
