water pump question

water pump question
I just finished replacing the 5.0 in my brother's 92 F150 with a salvage motor from a 94, also a 5.0L. Now the motor overheats and the upper radiator hose is collapsing, so I am thinking that there is some sort of standard vs. reverse rotation water pump issue. The serpentine belt goes under the water pump pulley, so the water pump rotates in the opposite direction as the crank pulley, but the replacement parts websites all indicate the both 92 and the 94 motors use standard rotation pumps. Any thoughts?
