I looked at Powerstrokeshop.com but they only went up to the F550. I work down the street from them if you'd like me to go in and ask Bob I'd be happy to do so. I know you can call him, but just trying to help.
yes if u would like that would be great. have some play in steering on my f350 4 x 4 crew cab. have 35;s and 6 inch lift, etc. found out that ford uses same boxes on f150, 250 and 350, so box is kinda weak to begin with. do u know if it is a direct fit into f350? again thanks. rob.
I just replaced my st.box with stock box, have 200,000 mi's of some hard off road driving on it. It's like new now, no play at all. I think it lasted as long as can be expected. If the 650 box will last longer, fits and dosn't cost too much then all the better. I'd like to here if it will fit too.
BTW I have 6" lift and 35's also
robjs111, does your steering hiss in the cab when turning? Ever since I lifted the truck, it's been making a hissing sound down around the brake pedal when turning. don't know what it is though.
yes making a hiss for sure. think it is coming from power steering pump. could that be bad as well?? do u think f650 box will be a direct replacement?? do u think its a good upgrade over stock box? thanks. rob.
Remanufactured $750 with core return, new $1200 with core return! In 4 years working at Wabash Trucking (ie. Powerstrokeshop.com) Chris in parts said he's only seen two f250/f350 broken shafts. I think he said both were on 2wd fleet trucks.
Chris said he'd be more than happy to do some research to see if it can be done. He even said he'd shoot some pics out if it'd help. 1-317-244-6811. I tried to call Bob before going over, he wasn't there. So I ended up talking to Chris in the phone.
2001 f650 box for my 2001 f350. want to upgrade due to weak f350 box. thanks.
Be sure its the box, not the power steering pump, which doubles as the brake booster. My Ford dealer changed the box without any testing because they thought it was bad. Didn't fix a thing. My NEW Ford dealer tested the pump and found it to be weak, nothing to do with the box. However, the box was so expensive that the extended warranty people refused to pay the additional cost of replacing the pump. I changed out the pump AND the dealer myself.

could the power steering pump cause play in steering, drifting like?? my pump does make a hiss type sound and does "tighten" up once in a while like when in close driving at really low idle type speeds. truck only has 80k miles on it and is kinda early i think for steering box to go bad but do have a 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires. but if u think its the pump and that could cause play in steering i would look into it. thanks. rob.
I have an early 99 CC 4x4 and have play in the steering box. I have replaces the ball joints, tie rod ends and the track bar is tight. A new steering stablizer and tighening the backlash in the box helped...but is not as good as it should be. It's stock suspension with only 93k on it!
