Aite so i installed a tach in my aero a little while back, and i used the most obvious place to get the power from my ignition switch that i could think of: the wiring harness adaptor i bought for my cd player. well... i didnt think of how much of a pain it would be if or when i decided to replace my cd player. well that day came, and now i'd like to know, for all those who have service cd's and what not, where is another spot i could tap into for an illimination source, and ignition switch power source? (like a diagram would probably be best) and what color wires would they be?
after, like when i un plug the harness adaptor i have no power to the tac or the radio. If i can't find or if no one tells me about other wires i'll pick up some t taps and tap into the harness it's self. Its just a birds nest in my dashboard (because of rewiring my speakers), and the tac makes my speakers buzz a lil bit at times... but its a pain to not be able to harness adapter out cuz my tach wires are attached to it.... and i don't have dainty hands. makes me wish ford put a double din in our aeros...
Yeah thats exactly how i had it hooked up. when i swaped decks, i hooked the power and ground up like this:
(factory harness/in dash wire) - =====[ (connector) ]====== - radio/CD player
.......................... ^
............... Tap Here for Tac
with removeable T taps, and ran the illumiation wire to the positive wire on the ash tray light cuz it kept spazzing out when i had it hooked up with the pos. and neg.
Well i was origonaly going to try to hook the tach power up to a source closer to the ignition switch, which is why i asked, but i'm happy with what i did.
