Nav Units - Stereo upgrades

I have the stock Audiophile system with the stock 8" sub, sound is good but need more bass!! So I am waiting for the stereo guy to find something that will fit.

Does anyone know if the back seats are exactly the same as a 06 or 07? they look similar??

I also would like a Nav unit but don't want to lose my steering wheel controls or built in Siriius Satalite so I was thinking of buying a stock nav unit so I was curious are the stock ones any good???

thanks for you Help?

You can get an aftermarket nav unit and still use the steering wheel controls. youll need a pac-swips adapter. Ive heard they work really well. and you can always get the sirius on the aftermarket also.
Id def go aftermarket more options and better rounting capabilites. Also alot cheaper
Im getting the Pioneer avic d3.
good luck which ever route you choose

if you have the power rear slider, its gonna make for an interesting sub install behind the seats - it takes up a lot of room.

Stock Nav is nice but it can give some really stupid directions. It sometimes tells me to go down private roads or just wrong directions period.

Go with the aftermarket stereo and NAV. I have the kenwood ( you can see pictures in my gallery ) WAY BETTER than the stock. You can add backup camera as I did plus Ipod hookup where you can controll the Ipod through the stereo and see everything on the kenwood screen ( including album art) it even charges the Ipod and more. Steering wheel switches work great with it. Plus you can use the NAV ( enter address etc.) while you are driving ( you have to pull over and stop to use the stock NAV.) I have XM with mine and I also get TRAFFIC, WEATHER FORCASTS, and STOCKS integraded into my NAV and it will route me around the traffic automatically when I set a route. You can also choose traffic map and see all the FWY's with colored lines like on TV News (green no traffic, yellow some traffic and red a lot of traffic. It also lets you know if there are accidents and road construction. ) you can also download POI's and red light camers so it will warn you when you approach an intersection that has one. I love it! You can do a lot more with aftermarket stereo and NAV

that eclipse is it a fold out? I don't really want one that folds out; I have a tendancy of going off road and I don't think it would last?

Do you mind If I ask what you paid? I like the idea of having 30gigs on board? Once again I wonder how that would be off road?

The Eclispe is not a fold out.The screen folds forward to reveal the DVD/CD slot and the soney memory card slot. Unless you are changing DVD/CD the screen is always flat and in use. I too did not want a fold out or a unit that required the dvd drvie to be installed under the seat or in the dash. What I liked about the eclipse was that it was all in the one head unit. It is also the fastest Nav unit available since it uses the hard drive to navigate instead of DVD's or cd's.

I gotta warn you, its not cheap. If I remember correctly the Pioneer was running around $1300 and I paid $2200 for the Eclispe with the back up camera installed.
