2012 bed and tailgate conversion
i bought a 12 bed and tailgate for my 04 and im wondering if 04 bed rail covers will fit on the new bed. i know the tailgate is differentfor the cover. will the guts from the 04 tailgate fit in the 12? or should i buy new guts? if so where to buy from. thanks

Not sure I understand your question. You can go to an aftermarket bed rail cover site and see if they call out the same part for the 04 and the 12 - that would tell you if it is an exact match or not. If not, however, it still may be close enough for you.
As far as the tailgate "guts" go, do you mean the mechanism from the handle to the latch? I would imagine the bed and tailgate work fine together - why change?
