I have two suggestions...

1. Find a good driveline shop and inquire about other types of u-joints, check the balance of the shaft or possibly a mid-mount bearing to maintain the shaft position.

2. Go to a 2 piece unit.

I don't see a problem......just add a turbo_dynamics semi-harmonic gyroscopic double pin stabilizer - they are rated to 140 mph @ sea level, 130 @10,000 feet (which is where you'll be at when it takes off).

You can actually use a throttle body spacer to help with that shudder...

My suggestion is weld a gear on the end of your xcase yoke and another on your pinion yoke and connect it with a bicycle chain. That way you can change the gear reduction by swapping yokes instead of changing gears in the axles or running a doubler. I just got off the phone with a big wig at Interco and he said if we could get enough people interested in a 54" Thornbird he'd mold them up. They will only be available in 15" rim so they will be easy to bolt up to D28 TTB and Ford 7.5 axles
