Why is it that when I remove the F-5 switcher (when the truck is shut off), the truck will not run without it. I thought If you remove the Switcher the truck runs strictly off the PCM. Mine is not, it will barely rev up with the F-5 switch off and engine stalls if you try pulling out. Never did this before. If you put the switch back on, the truck will run in every program. Like there is nothing wrong.
My understanding is that the F5 switch can be removed as a security measure to keep the truck from starting. The piggyback chip would then have to be removed from the PCM to be able to start and run without it. I have only used the buttons on the switch to go from the tunes to "no start".
When you pull the switch off it goes into anti theft mode. Need the switch to run. Do you have the stock tune in it?
Called Diane and she said the same thing. I just had no start added recently in pos 0. Never thought about it defaulting to no-start, unlike the old chip which defaulted to stock, when i pulled the switch.. BTW, apparently the no start that i have lets the thief start the truck but it immediately dies if he gives it gas. This is what was happening to me. Maybe Jody did this to prevent thiefs from buring up starters. I all can say is that it works.
