Hey Guys, I have an 02, 350, 7.3L, 4x4 with new LTX/MS stock size 265/75/16E's. I also have an 88, 250 with worn out 265/75/16D's. Stock size on the 88 was 235/85/16E. While looking for tires, the fact that the 1988 tire size is not stock seems to concern tire dealers. Maybe the "D" rating, not sure. I've noticed no problems running the 265/75/16D tire.
Anyway, I was thinking of putting on the same size 265/75/16E on the 250, but more aggressive than the LTX. This truck dosen't see any real weight/towing anymore, but this way the tires would be compatible with the 350 if I wanted something more aggressive in the future. What do you think?
The 'E' rating is more plys and is for hauling heavier loads. We had a tire company put 'C' rated tires on out shop truck, it's wasn't long before the tires had blisters on the side of the tire because the truck(van) was suppose to have 'E' rated. We're lucky not to have a blowout on the van being it was fully loaded most of the time with electrical equipment. Lee
well, the 235/85R16 is a 31.7x9.5", the 265/75R16 is a 31.8x10.5"... so they are the same height tire, just the 265 is 30mm wider than the 235.... so 1" wider....
