Talking Tire Choice

Hey there X world!

Looking at putting on new rubber on my 05 X.

Torn between:
BF Goodrich AT 265/75/16s
and Michelin LTX same size.

Thinking that stock is fine for now. Still have some warrenty left before the fun can start.

Thanks

I would deff go for the BFG 265's. Good tire and awesome traction in the dirt. They are also not to loud on the road if that is what you are looking for.

I have the Kumho's load d's, model
<table border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" width="760"><tbody><tr valign="bottom"><td class="searchheadnew"><nobr>Kumho Road Venture AT KL-78 </nobr></td></tr></tbody></table> on my x and I love them. Not loud and very smooth on the ride. I upgraded to the 285's with no clearance issues. Kumho's from what I have been told and reading the surverys on tires is 9.5 out of 10 on ratings. Better price and same where as the goodyears and better wear then the bfg's. Just my opinion. The prices were not bad either, 115 a piece.

2000 Excursion v10 stock. 85000 miles

Are the BFGs Load rated? Pulling between 8000 and Capacity. Ford says to use 10 ply Load rated E.

Thanks for being here guys!

I ran Michelin LTX's on my F250SD/SC and they were super... great traction and ride quality... On my new X, it came with almost new Cooper ATR's and I am VERY SURPRISED (good surprise) with the ride and handling. Unsure how much Coopers cost... I KNOW what the LTX's cost... I think they are worth it though. Go with the Michelins.

I have BFG 285/75/16's on both my Expedition and Excursion. I pull 10K trailer (and have always pulled heavy trailers with these same tires) with excellent results. You can inflate up to 80 psi for the heavy loads but run them as low as 30-35 psi around town if you're into a very soft ride. I normally keep mine at 50 psi for around town driving. The tripple sidewall and high contact tread pattern makes for a very stable towing experience. They are D rated tires. I've looked into E rated tires but can't see what additional benefit they provide over these very excellent AT KO's. Plus, there's no beating that time-proven look and tread pattern. An awesome tire that lasts me 70K miles every time.
