I dont have my truck here to look at but wanted to know if i have a coolant filter on my 2001 F350 7.3l diesel from the factory or is this only an aftermarket upgrade.
I have the same setup from Dieselsite and when I changed the filter at 3000 for the first time, you would not believe what was roaming around in the coolant. I gently snipped open the filter and let it drain upside down in a clear plastic drinking cup. The sludge that settled to the bottom scared me. No wonder they take out so many water pumps. That trash...sand and crap will kill a waterpump seal.....Glad I did it for sure and it was no big deal. I even plummed my temp sending unit in the filter mount. The gauge seems to read maybe 2-5 degrees cooler because the water travels a bit to get to the sender but it's no biggie.....It is definitely worth it..Dave
guess I should have said that, I run the dieselsite coolant filter also. Although I don't buy my filters from them, I buy them from fleetfilters.com or napa when I need to replace it, much cheaper and at least as good (just watch the numbers and don't buy the ones with the SCA's added in the filter)
Hey which filter number do you replace the Baldwin 1212 with? I have done the research but it escapes me...just wondering how you like the wix compared to the baldwin if you can tell any difference? Thanks for the info...Dave
the baldwin BF1212 interchanges to WIX 33405MP which is a fuel filter but the replacement coolant filter is WIX 24070 or napa gold 4070 for coolant filter without chemicals which is what I use. The Baldwin number is B5134 that comes with the dieselsite kit

I was having a senior moment....for some silly reason, the numbers 1212 were sticking in my tiny little mind.....I knew that filter was fuel, I just said the wrong thing....duhhhhh....Thanks though for clearing them BOTH up for me. I am due to be changing a bunch of filters in about 2500 miles and will be ordering everything from fleetfilters.com......Thanks again ......Dave
