Believe me I can not wait to get started on the project...It is going to be a lot of fun when it is all said and done and hooked up to my truck ready to take off.
I'm waiting for the weather to warm up here, too. I want to see if I can replace the converter/inverter. That may be a project best left to the RV shop, unless Wolfie wants to make a trip to Idaho.
I'm sure I can replace the leaky hose and connector. I just don't want to be outside if I don't have to. I suppose I could plug in the trailer and fire up the heater. I'd need to buy the replacement hose and connector, but I'm pinching every penny so the wife and kids can go to Germany in March.
-10 degrees brings out the grumpy in me! I hate it when my paws stick to metal stuff...
Last two weekends really sucked - but they slowed me down enough to find a better way to persue the G-II project: Grab a whole explorer chassis, dual piston disc brakes and all. IFS front suspension, sway bars, 8.8 locker rear - all the stuff it would be a pain to mod to a ranger frame. NO CABLES OR LINES TO RUN!
Then add a 351W, a ranger cab and bed, shake but don't stir...

Now that is going to be one mean Truck for sure.....
The guys around here build up C-5's, some use clutches out of C-4's, and other parts. They do not modify AOD's or go with Standard shifts. Most throw money at stuff out of catalogs and are either clueless or on to something - I'm not sure.
I wonder what a pure tranny man who built racing stuff would say?
I bet the explorer tranny would bolt right to the 351(?)W.
Question mark because it will be bored.
V6 runs the same bell housing as the small blocks, afaik.
But this is all way, WAY
Frankly I want a manual gearbox and clutch no matter what.

Well to bring everyone up to speed a little..I took the day off today and worked on the trailer..I have electricity going to it now and the fridge does not work...
It needs to be level within about +/-3 degrees front to back. This allows coolant flow to happen in the coils that zig-zag back and forth across the back of the fridge.
Try (carefully) feeling the chimney of the burner/heater tube in the outside fridge compartment. It should be warm when it's running on either electricity or gas.
A small flame should be visible in the burner area, or the heater element higher up should be warm or hot to the touch. It looks like a metal rod sticking out of the tin with two wires coming out of it.
