vent on/alternator drops

vent on/alternator drops
hello, on my 88 f-250 with 5.8, has a small prob, when you turn the vent,air,defrost, the alternator drops. my air does not work, but my compressor is not seized so ive been told. ? is, what is causing this. hope i have enuff info if not, please tell me. thank you a tillett....

Are you saying that the needle on the battery gauge drops when a accessory is turned on? That should be normal as its sucking down more power. In my truck with the AC on and the radio playing the needle moves around a little. As long as it stays in the normal range on the gauge it should be fine. Although it wouldn't hurt to have your battery and alternator tested to make sure they're working as they should.
