Actually I would wonder if the TV broadcasters were wanting the game to get started as soon as possible. After all they are the ones paying out the money and would have a lot of clout in saying lets skip everything we can and get the show on the road. I agree that it shouldn't have happened, since it would have taken less than 5 minutes, but to the penny pincers minutes are money.

They had a reason. It wasn't the greatest reason, but it seemed like the right idea at the time, I guess.

Then find a recording of it and play it over the loudspeaker. The song is about a minute and 20 seconds long. That wouldn't have affected a thing when it came to the game.

Much adieu about nothing. There are literally thousands of athletic games being played each week around the nation..... most without the NA. They had a delay and skipped it .... not an act of treason.

Not at all. But I bet they didn't skip a single commercial break or TV time out in order to get the game played in a timely manner.
