Some people say it's good, but I've also heard it tends to cause metal to fatigue and/or deteriorate faster. It's also notorious for holding in water and causing corrosion.
Wrapping the turbo would not really be a good idea.
What you want to wrap is the exhaust before the turbo to keep the heat in.
You don't want the extra heat getting transfered to the intake side, that costs you power and causes higher EGT.
You can also wrap the downpipe to keep a little more heat off the floor board and out of the passenger compartment.
Thanks for the input. I have not gotten the turbo installed yet, am looking forward to the experience this week. I have replaced what I think is stock 2.5" to muffler and 3" out of muffler with 3.5" from downpipe to exit. Have not driven it with this changed. When I get it all back together I will post what I find. Hopefully all good news.
