Build date is what determines. March 2005 and before, problems. March 2005 forward, the problem was corrected. You can go to the TSB I posted for more info. GWIZRC, you should check your build date. Please post results. THX.
One thing I have learned in this forum is that if FORD says they don't have a problem, and they print the fact there is no problem, much like the pre March TBC, with one volt to trailer brakes, then I believe Ford, when they write up the problem, that they do not have, if this makes sense!
Hey GwizRC how does that thing handle with those tires on the front ?
Is there a reason why you went with those on the front ?
I need tires and was looking at what others had ?
Change early 05 brake controller to late 05/06? Part Num???
"IF" my early 05 (build date 12-04) brake controller ends up giving me more trouble than I can cope with I will change it out w/ a late 05 - 06 model. What is the part number for the better / later one?
Also thanks for all the input about the controller, separate fuses for the trailer lights, and other information that has been posted. hotrod/Paul
My deal with the NHTSA was to send them everything I got from the Ford dealership. I did it immediately after the TBC was installed. I do not have the number, BUT, how about this idea. Call Robert Esser at 800.262.8309 ext. 265 or Scott Ericksen ext. 261. Those two fellows' name appear on my paperwork. Good luck.

They handle fine, a little stiffer than stock. I added the dual stabilizers at the same time, so I asume that they helped keep it like stock. Actually better than stock, since I don't get the death wobble anymore.
I wanted to find a tall (34-36") tire that would fit on my stock 7x17 rims (as recomended by the tire mfg.) I think only a SD can make a 35" tire look small. I didn't want a sissy highway tread because I was contstantly getting close to being stuck on the ranch with the stock tires. I got tired of having to rock the truck to get out. So after some seaching online and in magazines this is the ONLY radial load E tire I found that fit the bill. I pulled out some 10-12" sage bushes this weekend, I used to have to get the tractor to do that. What a difference the tires made.
As far as the question about being up front, all six are the same for rotation reasons.
