Im depressed, I have not had any money to work on the bronco in the last couple of weeks, and with Christmas coming it dont look like I will have any for the next couple of weeks ether. I had enough saved for the l&l headers, and then I had to buy a set of ties for my dd.

Any one want to get me a set of l&l fender exit headers for Christmas?

That is posted by 79-400-power in the bronco forum. That is the extent of his problems he has to spend his money on tires, and now with christmas coming up
he is going to have to spend HIS money on other people instead of getting his
headers!! wa WA wa WA wa WA!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish my problems were that simple
wow!! Not to mention the OP of this thread I am sure. Some people are driving
around on baldino tires or used tires with a questionable past and when they go flat
they cannot even change them not because they don't know how!!

I6, it sounds to me like you are having depression. Many people do and do not realize it.

I've dealt with chronic depression most of my life and will probably deal with it the rest of my life. It sucks in a way that very little else I've experienced can suck.

I will say though that I find that if I make myself get up and do something, anything no matter how little, that I feel better. The more I do the better I feel.

It's a vicious circle. Depression kills motivation, which kills action, which creates more depression. The only way to break the cycle is to do something, whether you feel like it or not.

Action does not come from motivation. Motivation comes from action.

I6, The first thing I would like to say is, I wish I knew your real name so I could address you properly. The second thing I would like to say is, I was not going to a reply to this thread for fear of it being an open book, if you will. I fully understand the (I don't care) b/c I don't either. I have a son that is 22, and is excelling to any normal expectations of a parent. I have a wife that I simply adore, and would do anything for her. I have a job that no one can take away from me. Yes I am am product of many peoples dreams, and hopes.

Am I happy? No. Not b/c I don't want to be, but b/c I am not capable of it. (in the real world)
Many people posted to keep busy. This in my opinion is the best advice that can be given. Just don't bite off more than you can chew. monetarily or physically. Was I born with this? No It came about, to the best of my recollection, on or about 1992. I am currently on 200mg of Zoloft, and it keeps me level. I am not suicidal, but if I was told I was going to die tomorrow. I would accept it with open arms. Does this sound selfish?
You bet it does, and yes. I don't care either.

To everyone that has posted. You are truly caring people, and that has a very big impact on people like us. GOD bless you all.

It took a lot of sand to open that book, tewfer. It can't do anything but help, maybe some who have not come forward as well as the o/p.

I don't think that any of us here can "cure" I6's problem.

I wish it were as simple as giving advise and him taking it and everything would be fine.

That isn't going to happen.

I hope he knows that we as a group (except for one little dips**t) care about his pain and would like to help.

Depression, as I understand it, it a hormonal or clinical problem that renders the brain incapable of balancing the good and bad of any situation. It is not that the depressed person doesn't want to improve his condition - he can't - by himself.

I6, I hope you find a way to deal with your depression and your addiction.

Life is good. Everyone ought to enjoy it.

I am fortunate to be neither addicted nor depressed, but I can't imagine the burden it must be to have to live with it.

People that don't KNOW depression, can't accurately comment on it. Period. Professionals can understand and empathise, but even they don't know true depression, until they have lived with it. Kinda like the guy who says, I've got a bad back too, but when it aches, I just work harder! Bullpuckey. Ya don't know what a bad back is, either. And ya don't know what PAIN is.

There's an old saying..." It's better to remain silent and be THOUGHT a fool... than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Some folks should remember that, before typing their "intelligent" responses. And, I'm sure, he's ignoring this thread by now, anyway.

I was also concerned by his lack of response here. Anyone PM'd him to check to see how he's doing? I know he's gotta have some friends here who are closer to him than some of us. But I will, if nobody else does..or maybe too...if everyone else does... with a proper support message.

Some important background to I6's public version of his life:

Some of my friends are great people but are the wrong crowd if you know what i mean.
About a friend ago i lost a buddy cause he completely changed due to a drug he started getting into. I dont mean he just sat around doing drugs, or lost his job or something. I mean he was absolutely a completely different person. It was surreal.
Florida has been going down the crapper within the past few years. At least jacksonville has.

when i was in high school, skinny white boy on the football team trying to get bigger. I worked out all the time and did get fairly quick results. After a while the results were harder to come by because i completely neglected my legs and back.

...your telling me that a vast majority of those kids arnt at the very least drinking and smoking a lot of the time? At least once a week? ... then tn must be completely different than fl.
I go to college, and i have friends that go to different ones and ive seen what they all do. Its generally the same storey.
Like you said not every day, but its quite frequent. Im not saying hard drugs either.

My friends do it cause its fun, not to numb the pain. I dont see anything wrong with that. That dosnt mean im right, one day i may read something that will change my opinion. But till then it dosnt bother me.
in response to

Religion in "the club"...Can you guys talk about it there? I've been having more and more questions that i cant get straight answers too but i want to honor the rules of this forum and not post them here. If someone is willing to go through a series of exchanges via pm then that would be cool too. Keep in mind i want to have a good educated debate, not just ramble about bs back and forth.

Im still confused as to what believe. For 18 years i went to church every sunday and sometimes wednesdays. I went to a private christian school from k5 to 8th grade. Needless to say ive heard a lot about the bible.
When i turned 18 my dad didnt force me to go to church anymore so i stopped going. I honestly stopped going because i was lazy and i didnt want to wake up on sundays. A few years down the line i went to church cause i havent gone in a while and found it a bit strange. I was able to look at it in a different light, cause i hadnt been in so long and i was older and a bit smarter.
That was the first day that i really questioned my religious beliefs. Before when i was younger i wouldnt question it for 1 because i wasnt very smart, and 2, for fear of damnation. One of the first things that bothered me was most people took the story of noahs ark literally (I find it odd that people still do believe that story happened). After that, more and more questions started coming up that nobody could come close to answering. When i continue to ask questions, people always either b.s. an answer that makes no sense, or they get angry and give the ol "more room in heaven for me" answer.
At the same time though, i hardly consider myself an athiest. I do pray to god/jesus still though cause i grew up praying and it got me where i am today. That, and little instances throughout life that ive seen keep me open to the possibility of SOME of the stories in the bible may have happened.
Like Plato said, "If i know anything, it is that i know nothing." All of us should keep this in mind when we talk so passionatly about religion. I believe it to be a fact that nobody knows for sure whats going on. A lot of people say otherwise but i find that hard to believe

Why are you so patriotic? ... Some of you may have noticed ive been more and more interested in american history. I went through a brief phase where i started to learn about some bad things america has done. Then i started to learn about whats going on these days in america. My patriotism and hope for america was dwindling.
I didnt want to just start talking bad about this country. I didnt know enough about america. So i went out and bought a huge book on american history, im about done with it and i got another one lined up after it. As a result of reading this book, my patriotism is almost at what it used to be. The good thing is its an educated patriotism as opposed to blind patriotism (one thing that sorta bothers me is a lot of people have this blind patriotism).

So bored.....ideas needed : Smoking crack is pretty cool.

And finally the subject of this thread:

I dont really look forward to anything and i believe thats the problem, im not stopping cause theres no decent reason. My health is a crappy reason cause my health is shot to hell regardless, drs dont even know whats wrong with me. So i think i need to find a better focus.

Im not necessarily depressed. The only time i get depressed is when i see im bringing others down with me and that hurts cause i want everyone to be happy. Im probably just in a rut in life and ill be ok im used to that, i really just need to find a way out cause this ruts a bit deep.

Thanks for listening to my whining, i just needed to vent. I do feel a bit better.

So, sketchy picture - your average middle-class skinny white kid in a U.S. college. Some health issues. Raised in a Christian family but has reduced his interest in that facet of his upbringing during what are commonly rebellious years. Has proven the ability to join in (highschool football team), objectively self-evaluate and formulate and execute a plan of action for self-improvement (weight training). Has demonstrated interests in life and the motivation to investigate them (trucks, history, religion). Can't be a complete dolt since he got accepted into college.

Has many questions about life, his place in the story of his country, seeking truth in his religious upbringing and has become bogged down by it all.

Unfortunately, in his own words, he has fallen in with the wrong crowd at school. Makes frequent references to excessive partying, drinking, drug use and "crack heads". He's even fully cognisant of the major changes in personality abuse of these substances can have cause a person - having first-hand lost a friend to it only just recently.

This makes for a dangerous combination, that has lead him to stepping into the very trap he was just recently describing.

I6, you have taken a wrong turn. In a time of soul-searching, you have come under the peer influence of the wrong crowd and fed the bad dog. You are becoming that friend you lost.

Soul-searching at this age is as common as pissing. Most of us do it, or did it. It's a sign, not that something's wrong, but that you are self-aware, and that can be a major strength later in life. Your personal history, your upbringing, your previously displayed personal mettle, all give you the foundation from which to deal with it and go on to a full and fulfilling life. But to do so you have to feed the good dog and starve the bad one.

Smoking crack is going to suck that excellent life out of you. Decide to stop it, now. Seek help to do so. Not tomorrow - now, as you read this. Phone someone - a parent, a sibling, a non-drug-user friend, the college help line - phone someone right now, tell them you want to get off this **** and have the life you were on course for but got diverted from.

I don't think he's a crack head...he was probably just joking with those comments...Most crack heads don't have computers...they've sold them for crack.
