the more i work under the hood of my truck, the more and more i wish i could get rid of that enormous heater apparatus under there. is there any kind of aftermarket heater that i can put in its place or put in the cab. I would really love to change that darned spark plug
Assuming I have the correct mental picture of your setup, I believe your truck either now has, or once had, air conditioning. That housing on the passenger side of the engine compartment exists on trucks originally equipped with a/c (though I am unsure if the high output heater option had this as well).
My 77 came from the factory with only the basic heater. On trucks so equipped, only the motor end of the blower protrudes into the engine compartment from the cab. The fabrication of the firewall differs between the two options, so making the changes your describing could entail a lot of effort.
thanks for the info it will really help alot. It did have air conditioning in it but that came out first thing. i think i will try to find the other heater for this thing. I think the effort would be worth it. thanks again.
I cut a firewall section out of a truck in a junk yard and welded it into my firewall to get rid of the ac. Then I put all the non ac stuff into the cab. It wasn't that big of a deal but my cab was off at the time. Now I wish I would have left it in cause I only drive it in the summer.
