hi there, i have a couple questions about carbs, emissions and tuning tips.
1: would it be a good idea to put a 600 CFM holley 4160 on a 1981 302? (sadly i have the bad year of required emissions)
2: would you think it would pass emissions with the holley on it?
3: This one is just general knowledge: how can you tune a carburator right? i hear that a out-of-tune carb results in less mileage, spark plug fouling and other problems.
1] Where do you live? What all is involved in the emissions testing?
2] A 600 will work fine on a 302.
3] Basic tuning is done by reading the spark plugs to get them a light brownish color. White is too lean, black is too rich. You really just have to try it and see how it does before changing jets and stuff. I have had them run fine right out of the box.
