conversion to 3sp overdrive
I have a 68 F100 with the 240 six and a NP435 tranny and a 3.73 rear-end, Clifford single outlet headers 2.5" exhaust through a cherrybomb glass-pak, Clifford 4bbl. intake with the 390cfm carb. and Pertronix ignition. I do a lot of freeway driving and would like to lower my crusing rpms on the highway, currently I'm pulling about 3100 rpm's at 65mph. However, I would like to keep the acceleration that the 3.73 gears provide. A friend gave me a toploader 3sp od from an econoline van and I would like to swap it for my NP435. Have any of you had any experience with this tranny swap? I already have the correct bellhousing to fit it. Does anyone make a shifter to fit this transmission in a truck with a bench seat?
