old clifford intake

i have an old clifford 4 bbl intake and holley 390 carb i want to put on my 65 f100.already have the clifford headers on the truck.the intake has no provisions for a heat plate that everyone talks about. the bottom of the intake is completely smooth. is there another way to do some type of heater or can i run without it. i have run the one bbl intake and the clifford headers for probably 18 years with no heat hooked up.

There is the type that sits between the carb and the intake. Ford used them on
late 60's Galaxies and other cars. You see them once in a while on ebay. Good luck.

Or, you can sell that one on ebay for about $200, and use that toward a newer model with the coolant provision. k

what exactly does the heat plate accomplish? like i said i have been running clifford headers for 18 years with the stock 1 bbl manifold and have had zero issues. what difference is switching to the 4bbl going to change? just curious. thanks

More of everything!

On the bottom of the Clifford intake, ["completely smooth"], what if you found an appropriately sized piece of metal or tube, drill as needed and attach 5/8" fittings to be connected to the heater hose. This apparatus would have to make thorough contact with as much of the manifold as possible for proper heat transfer. This piece could be held in place with metal hose clamps or something similar.

Just an idea!
