Ok Im having problems with my 2004 F-150. This started a couple of days ago and now its really bad, Ok when I get in it when the engine is cold I go to turn it on and it just clicks and wont do anything like the battery is completely dead and i will hit the key again and then it will fire right up, it did that to me a few days ago and it keeps getting worse. This morning when I when to go to work it did it again but I had to hit the key like 4 times before it fired but then after work it wouldnt start at all, I hit the key like 10 times and nothing so I tried to jump and tried it still nothing, let it sit for couple minutes still nothing, let it sit alittle longer tried it nothing, hit the key right after that and it fired up like nothing was wrong with it. The battery isnt dead, Everything works (lights, radio...ect) Its been getting cold here, Highs in the 20s.I wont to get people opinions on here before I take it to a shop. Your opinions are greatly appreciated, Thank You
I agree with the BigBlock_drock... On my 97 the positive cable to the starter corroded up so bad it broke one day... One of my winter checklist items is to inspect the cable and apply a bit of anti corrosive stuff that I use on my 48 volt golf cart to prevent trouble down the road... That’s what I would check first.

Reason: ?
You could possibly have a bad starter solinoid (relay) or a bad neutral safety switch, next time when it won't start try shifting the truck in to neutral instead of park, that usualy helps if the neutral switch is out of adjustment.....
