Okay, so this has been going on for awhile. At least a month. I just replaced the battery about a month ago because I tried to start the Expy one morning and it was dead and charging the battery didn't help. So battery is new. Just a few days before I had to change the battery the Expy started having issues starting. When you turn the key you hear the engine crank over just like it normally would, it just doens't fire up. Sometimes if you let it crank long enough it will fire up. Most of the time I crank it over a second or two, stop and try again and it fires right up on the second try. I'm not really sure what is going on as the starter sounds like it's working. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what to start looking for I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to get this fixed before the truck just up and decides it won't start at all.
I think these have a check valve to hold the pressure. When they fail it often takes two tries with the key to get it to start. Try turning the key to on (without cranking the engine) for 3 seconds, then turn it off and then try starting it. If it starts right away it may be the pressure bleeding off and needing to build back up.
When you turn the key on, can you hear the fuel pump activate for 2-3 seconds?
I've tried listening for the fuel pump many times when turning the key to the on possition. I've never once actually heard it, even when I do get the truck to turn over. I guess my ears aren't good enough. lol

I tried this and still no go unless I actually crank the engive once and then the second time I crank it it turns over. Also still turns over if I crank it long enough the first time. But after several attemps to get it to do what you described with just turning the key to on and then trying to turn it over on the second time, I still got no start. I'm just not sure what the deal is.
