So its cold here today, about 3 degrees this morning. I am mixing number 1 and 2 in my tanks to help. what does everyone else reccomend for winter diesel. i plan on mixing or running 1 during the coldest months. what about anti-gel products, are these a good idea or a bad? oh and btw, diesel in bowman nd was 3.91 and a place in dickinson, nd was 4.14 a gallon. a little too extreme dont u think?
</td> <td width="40%"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" width="100%"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top" width="55%"> This is the product of choice for optimal winter operation. Diesel Fuel Supplement® contains the most effective antigel additive package available in the diesel industry - no blending with No.1 diesel or kerosene is needed to achieve maximum winter protection. The cetane improver in Diesel Fuel Supplement provides up to 4 numbers of cetane boost for easier cold starts and a smoother running engine, while detergents clean fuel injectors to provide more power and less fuel consumption.
While it is preferable to use Diesel Kleen in the non-winter months for maximum injector clean-up and a cetane boost of 4 numbers, Diesel Fuel Supplement can be used on a year-around basis. Although Diesel Fuel Supplement is an antigel, it will not harm your engine to use year-around.

This is what i use. Can be found at walmart and truck stops.
Fuel prices in Tennessee average 2.96 gal.
I never run straight #1 even if it is extremely cold. I usually run about a 70(#2) and 30(#1) when it gets around 0. IMHO running straight #1 is over kill.
Oh yeah, I always use a fuel additive with every fuelup.
Blending #1 n #2 is ok but putting in more than 30%#1 is wasting your money. First ask the retailer where you buy your fuel if they are blending, they probably are.Additives like Power Service,Howes,or Lucas are all good. Most of them used properly will be good to -5*- -10*.I suggest using the additives down to 0* then blend in 10-20% #1 below that.At our truckstop we don't blend unless we run out of additive. Our temps in eastern ia can get to -5* at night. We haven't had any "gelling" problem for the 7yrs i've been here. In ND i'm sure most places especially small retailers are blending 70/30=70#2/30#1 that's good to about -15*. Plus don't let anyone tell you "windchill" has any effect on engines that's total BS,garunteed.
I Would Recomend Stanadyne It Has More Lube In It. The Frito Lay Comp Around Here In Ohio Uses It In All There Fleet Trucks And Had Really Good Luck With It. They Dont Use The Diesel Kleen Anymore. Better Fuel Millage To.
Do you all plug your trucks in. I live in an apartment and can't get it plugged in at night.
The dealership thinks I am crazy but it starts okay and coughs a bit and knocks on the really cold days for just a couple of seconds and then goes into high idle.
Is this really damaging my motor?
I add PS to a tank but I only fill up once a month or less with about 15 gallons.
I run veggie and start up on diesel and shut down on diesel.
correct me if im wrong, but doesnt cetane booster harm your fuel system and injectors?? also, do u think if i just use blend all winter long i should be ok, cuz diesel 1 is about 30 cents more than regular diesel, hurtin the checkbook.
