My wife noticed an issue today where she heard what she thought was a fan noise in the 07 Eddie Bauer. She turned all the fans off, radio etc and was still there. Then she noticed she had the heated seats on, turned those off and the fan noise stopped.
Can anyone comment on this as it sounds strange. I will be testing tonight but wondered if anyone knew what this could be and if they had experienced it. Also let me know if you have had this resolved and what steps were taken
Well I would assume the fan pushes hot/cold air through the seats. Some heat only seats have elements that warm the seat, these use air as far as I know.
I have a shop manual. The seats have a filter, fan, and a peltier heating/cooling element. Depending on which way the electric current is flowing through the element, it will either get hotter, or cooler. In anycase, changing the filter as recommended in your owners manual will keep it working properly.
At times the fan on my 07 makes a sort of low growl noise that sounds like it is from the radio. Punching the off button, then the auto button usually stops the noise. May be the fan at just one speed only as it only happens sometimes.
I have the same noise and it is the fans in the seats... I asked the dealer if they thought the noise was normal and they said yes but they wished it was quieter as they get the question quite alot.
