Hi guys, glad you all kept yourselves entertained while you were waiting on me, ha ha.
I have measured the stroke and it is 3.78" so I guess it is more than likely a 390. The truck runs great so I will not be pulling a head anytime soon to check bore. The ribs on the block really threw me. I thought this must be something special since I had not seen them before on other FE engines. My son hated the truck till he performed his 1st powerslide, now he says he would not give it up for anything. Yes, I'm scared...LOL
My 390 I picked up out of a 73 F-100 is just like yours. No casting numbers on the block other than the 352 in the left corner and the ribs on the side. I too made a post earlier on here to enquire more info on this block as I was excited that maybe I had something more than a 390. I have the engine tore apart in my garage ready for a re-build and it is just a 390.<O</O Jeff<O</O

Like I said, it could be a over the counter service block! I did commit on that earlier in this post LOL.......
Okay, I have another question now. I read somewhere that pre 65 blocks have 2 bolt engine mounts and later blocks have 3 bolt mounts. The one in the truck is a 2 bolt
setup. Does this matter for any reason at all?
