Ok I'm sure that this has been asked before but i could not find my answer in the search. I have what looks like a fe block ford, it came with but not in a 66 Mercury Montclair . I can not find the casting numbers. The only numbers I could find where the ones under the oil filter ( 3H13 - 2w) . I was able to find a number stamped in to the front of the block ( 3H20G with a 4 below it) the block also has ribs down the passenger side.
Well it's a 73 block with a 73/Aug/13 casting date and 73/Aug/20 assy date. You'd have to measure the bore to see where it's at.
4.00- 352
4.05- 360/390
4.13- 428
Keep in mind overbore when you measure. Some 360/390 blocks can go .060 to 4.11. Very close to 4.13 std 428. And if measurements are off can be confused with a 428.
