awd questions

i have a '97 mountaineer and i think the all wheel drive sucks personally, its stuck in 4wd all the time..my question is can i put another transfer case out of a regular 4wd and the switch in the dash just to make it a regular 4wd? i wouldnt own nothing but a 4wd but when im just cruising around on the hi-way id like for it to be in 2wd, besides the transfer case pops now then you accelerate fast i think its getting worn out it has 202000 miles on it. any suggestions would be very helpful

The only other t-case you can use is a BW4406 from a 1997-2002 F-150. it is a direct bolt in. If you want to use the elctric shift t-case you will have to replace your fuel tank with one from a Sport.

You would then use the front & rear drive shafts from an Expidition.
