Thumbs down need a little Pc help

what is causing my Compaq laptop screen to go blank when loading up windows normally. Everything works fine up until windows finally loads up it even lets me put in the password then the welcome screen comes up shoes my background then the screen just goes black for no reason . and will not recover. but it appears windows is still functioning everything still works but the screen. I'm using it now it WILL operate in Safe mode with networking. its' working great now but as soon as i go back to normal operation the problems begin.. Any help would be appreciated as this pc is less than 4 months old. I promise to God the moment i can get rid of this windows Vista garbage It'll be as good as gone. Thanks for your help

Sounds like you may have a virus. After booting normally while at the black screen, you can try to start explorer***** from start/run or from task manager. If the screen comes up and then goes back to black, you have a virus. FYI-the keyboard combination Windows Logo+R (Open the Run dialog box) CTRL+ESC (Display the Start menu)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301583 list of keyboard shortcuts, useful at times

Try running a couple online scans from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

What do you have your screen resolution and refresh rate set at?

Try changing the screen resolution and refresh rate to something lower.. I have seen this happen when the refresh rate is not compatible with the display.

Also did this just happen on its own in the last few days?
You might want to try a system restore back a few days to see if that fixes it.
