Are you sure there isn't one there? It'll be between the last 2 freeze plugs on the passenger side. Look carefully as its may be behind the exhaust pipe.

Oh I think I screwed up. Went out in the dark and cold laying under truck and I think I went in reverse and looked towards the front of the engine. I'll take another look tomorrow. Thanks.
Thanks all. My stupid mistake. When I looked, it was dark and 25 F outside. I made the idiotic mistake of looking at the front of the engine instead of the back. It is there, clear as day, just a bit above and in front of the starter. I'd say having the inferior Haynes manual didn't help. All they showed was one side of a V8. Should have bought a Chiltons manual.
Between the cold (20s most every day) and the one warm day (40s but intense rain) it was not a good time to do this. Last Sunday I went ahead and drained 2 gl out of radiator and refilled with plain water, then drove it 5 miles and redrained the rad. Finally put in 6 qts antifreeze and some water. Yeah, it would have been easier, but didn't want to lay down in the rain or cold. This will do for now. If it looks good will take it to summer of '09 and do it right.
It only had 1.5 years on the present fill. Unless the shop didn't do the full changeout, it sure got dirty in 1.5 years. That's why I didn't anticipate it being needed, so when I did the freeze temp check (annual ritual since I had a block full of slush once after a rad shop rapaired and refilled with plain water one August) and that's when I saw how bad it looked. Otherwise would have done it a couple months earlier.
