hood release nfg problems

hood release nfg problems

just got a truck 1995 f350 7.3 my buddy just slammed the hood down
didnt latch properly kind of half closed now it's jammed no up no down
tried pushing down on it while puling latch etc etc
any adjustments in it or secrets to opening this bad boy

You can reach up and push/ pull (it helps to have old arms) where cable is attached . Worked for me before I replaced latch . You could unbolt latch to atleast see problem . but you cant get to screws in grill. Although you may reach them other wise. Good luck

Did the release cable come out of its little slot in the latch bracket? Happens now and then on that model and can easily be put back in the slot through the grill.

The main latch may have been in the "latched" position and is now is caught between the first and secondary latches. May take a little finagling to free it if it is.

Oh and tell your buddy there is no reason to "slam" a hood to close it, just close it.

why do you need 'old arms'?

I was gonna say, I've only had a problem with my hood once and it was when the pull assembly wasn't fully seated. Hope you figure it out. I had a hood blow up (rusted at the latch point) while driving and it sucked!
