Bumpside Padded Dash??
I hope everyone is recovered from bein' Turkey Stuffed! The question is, did any year and/or model of the bumpside trucks com without the padded dash cover? I removed my tortured one and found a nicely painted dash underneath and would like to leave it this way, understanding that I need to cover the mounting slots and holes. What I need to know is what to do for the defroster covers/vents/grates and if some year or model without the pad might have them. If anyone can answer this or even might have a pair of them that they would be willing to sell me it would be greatly appreciated. Click links below for pics:

Thanx In Advance,
Gene
P.S. I could sure use a steering wheel or at least a horn button!!

as for some defroster covers for the 2 holes! when you took your old dash board out - do you still have it? if so where your 2 vents are molded in to the dash carefully remove them and they will be a perfect fit, razor blade them and peel the foam material away, i had found this out by accident quite a few years back. when this body style pickup & truck was built in south america they didnt all have padded dashes, but if you threw your dash away i have some i have saved from dashes i had trashed in the past, hope this helps, Jess
Yeah, I figured I might be able to use the ones out of the pad, but wanted to keep the pad intact in case some day when H-E-double hockey sticks freezes over I may find someone to re-mold/repair it. I am an over the road truck driver and regularly drive up and down Interstate-5 near Los Banos, just came through there today, in fact. If you were to PM me with your phone number, perhaps I could call you and arrange a time and spot that we could meet up and I could give you a few $$ for the ones you have. Otherwise, I live in Las Vegas and shipping/mail shouldn't be too bad. Let me know and thanks for the thoughts and the reply.
Thanks for all the replies,
Gene
Custom Cabs used a horn ring. The same one was used 1964/69, and is the same as 1963 Falcon.
The steering wheel has been reproduced by Dennis Carpenter in black only. Fits 1964/69 and again it's the same as 1963 Falcon.
The defroster ducts used covers: C7TZ-8104498-A. Fits: 1967/72 F100's thru F750's.
There's no radio grille, the padded dash was perforated for the speaker.
All these trucks came with padded dashes. The dash you removed would have had the defroster covers on it at one time.
All 1967/72 F100/750's have painted dash boards under the pad, as do 1965/66's, and 1973's and up.
JUST DASHES located in the San Fernando Valley, CA can make your old tired padded dash look new again.
Be prepared, the cost is astronomical.
They quoted me $700.00 to repair the padded dash of a 1968 Galaxie XL.
I used an aftermarket plastic dashcap instead. The dashcap glues to the padded dash and costs $100.00.
I don't know if anyone makes the cap for Ford trucks. Ask your local upholstery shop, they might know of a supplier.
