Aligning Headlights

Does anyone know the "measurements" for aligning the headlights? Like how far up and off the centerline the beam should be if I am "x" feet from a wall / plywood sheet / etc.? I just ordered all new buckets and springs...as most of mine ar missing and wanted to get them pointed where they shoulda ought go.

None are suppose to shoot up, all down around 3-5 deg. If single beam the settings is set on High beam. Most states have a max height that the head light can be. The drivers side light must be straight and/or to the right. NONE to the left.

This is what most states say.

Every head lamp upon every motor vehicle shall be located at a height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 24 inches to be measured from the center of such lamp to the level ground upon which the vehicle stands when such vehicle is without a load.

There shall be an uppermost distribution of light, or composite beam, so aimed and of such intensity as to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least 450 feet ahead for all conditions of loading (motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, and mopeds at a distance of at least 300 feet).
