Ive been reading articles all day and havent found exactly what I am looking for. Has anyone installed a york type air compressor on the 6.0 with DUAL Alternators? I looked under my hood and it doesnt look like much room. Just curious if anyone has made this happen? I also looked at some others like the extremeoutback, and vmac. I know the vmac is only for single alts. Not sure about the extremeoutback though. It does seem a bit pricy too. Over 1000 for the extremeoutback. I would like to keep it relatively inexpensive but you know how that goes. It would just be for filling tires and occasional air tool work. I would really like to keep the dual alts. Thanks in advance guys
sorry, never done this. If i Were you id call a couple reps of the companys that your looking at. im sure out of anyone they would have seen these apps and know what would work out best for your truck. Im sure there is someone here that might know or tried this though. sorry I couldn't be more help.
Why not simply go with a 12V DC electrically driven compressor? If it will only be used ocassionally, it and a small receiver may be just the ticket. Gast makes several sizes, and they are marketed by quite a few vendors.
that is a possibility that i have been looking at...the only thing kinda making me lean more towards the york style is those 12v compressors have to be loud as hell and im a little excessive so ill prolly never need this but its something i want.....anybody have any luck with the 12v....how loud are they?...how is the output?
There was a past post on converting an air conditioner compressor to an air compressor. Even had a parts list I believe. I have been looking for it, but no luck yet. It mounted where the 2nd alternator went. It also may have been on another forum, but I really thought it was this one.
