My Dad just bought a '77 F150 4x4 with a 1970 429 and a 1977 C6 trans in it, the previous owner had flexplate issues and sold it as is.
He has been trying a couple different flexplates trying to find the right one with no luck, what have anyone done for this swap to work? He thinks it is an externally balanced motor?
Any help in the right direction is appreciated!!! He's freaking out!
The 14 1/4" was too small and the 15 1/2" was too big, from the looks of it he said it should be in the 14 1/2" diameter range?
If you haven't done so yet, I would check in with the gang in the 385 series engine forum. Was the motor touched prior to install, perhaps the out-of-balance resides in the motor, could be a drive-line problem too...
