Duraspark II part #???

Does anyone know the correct part number for the correct Duraspark II module for a 300 I6? I did a search and was only able to find info on the TFI module.

Also does anyone have a good source for the wiring harness for the TFI - Duraspark conversion?

-Thanks, Rob

The modules are the same for different engines. All you need is a blue grommet module if you are doing a conversion. There where other color modules with special features, so just stay away from them.

Just go to the junkyard and look under any Ford/Lincoln Mercury car or truck and get a module with a blue plastic piece where the wires go into the module. Get the wiring to the dist too. The only thing you need specific to your 6 cyl is the distributor.

If you want to buy new, just buy one for a late 70's truck with a 300 6cyl.

P.S. I just looked up a 79 f150 with a 300 6 cyl at www.partsmerica.com, and looked for an ignition module. They have two choices; a high altitude and one without high altitude. High altitude is a special feature you do not want, the other one is the blue grommet module that you want.

If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Whether you choose the Duraspark or the D.U.I., we curve each on a distributor machine based on your engine combination. Please see them at:

http://www.performancedistributors.com/forddistributor.htm

Also, there is now an excellent installation article on the D.U.I. Distributor on the Ford-Trucks.com site at:

As for the wiring harness, I bought a new one from Jeg's about a year ago. just go to the Jeg's website (www.jegs.com) and type in "duraspark" for the item description.

It is pricey though, at a $100, but it is a NEW harness.

Just for clarification? If the DSii module has the blue grommet, will it work for the 300 motor? Are the blue grommet modules imterchangabe between 6 and 8 cylinder motors?

D9VZ-12A199-A .. BLUE Module (Motorcraft DY-184-C)

Ford just updated the above part number to:

1U2Z-12A199-A .. BLUE Module (Motorcraft DY-893)

From FTE sponsor y2kfordparts: Ford list price: $104.87 / FTE member net price: $56.63.

Be aware that some autoparts stores sell modules that are made in China = Pure Crappola! STAY AWAY!!

Yes. The blue module will interchange between all different types of engines.

Your 300 will use the module with the blue grommet. Auto parts stores sell them. You can get a DS-2 wiring harness from Painless Wiring, as well. Autozone sells Painless wiring stuff. Here is a direct link:
